Aleksander Fredro was born on June 20, 1793 in Surochów, died July 15, 1876 in Lviv. He was a Polish comedic playwright, diarist, poet. He created during the Romantic era. He was born in a rich noble family.

At the age of 16, in 1809 he enlisted in the army of the Duchy of Warsaw, later he was in Napoleon's army. Three years later he took part in Napoleon's expedition to Moscow; he then received the Golden Cross of Virtuti Militari. In the years 1813-1814 he went through the whole Napoleonic campaign as an orderly officer in the Emperor's staff. After which, in 1814, he was awarded the Cross of the Legion of Honor.
After Napoleon's abdication in 1815, he returned home and managed the family estate of Bieńkowa Wisznia.

On November 8, 1828, after eleven years of efforts, he married the owner of the castle in Odrzykon - Zofia, Countess Skarbek.
​
He was deeply committed and devoted to the reconstruction of the country - he acted for the extension of railway lines in Galicja (region of southern Poland).
​
He was the author of a comedy of manners from the life of nobility, mainly provincial. He also wrote poems and aphorisms.
